Jason Reeves, a partner in Zelle's London office, and Deepa Sutherland, Counsel in Zelle's London office, were quoted in the Law360 insurance Authority article, "Insurers Win Big in Hawaii Climate Change Suit". The article addressed the Hawaii Supreme Court's ruling that AIG doesn't need to cover a suit accusing a Sunoco subsidiary of contributing to climate change.
Reeves noted: "I'm not surprised at all about the outcome in connection with the pollution exclusion. I think a lot of people now, with pollution exclusions in their policies, might be able to say: Look at that."
Sutherland noted that climate change litigation was only proliferating. "Once we see these suits accelerating, they get to this stage where insurers become involved in a sort of a satellite litigation to the underlying litigation."
