Zelle Attorneys to Present at Windstorm Insurance Network 2025 Conference

January 27, 2025

Brandt Johnson, Lindsey Bruning, and Steven Badger, partners in Zelle's Dallas office will present at the Windstorm Insurance Network 2025 Conference in Dallas, TX from January 27-28, 2025.

Brandt Johnson will participate in the panel discussion “Everything is Bigger in Texas; but, was the Hail Damaging and When Did it Occur?” on January 27, 2025, from 11:15 am - 1:00 pm (CT).

Texas continues to experience significant hailstorms, windstorms, tornadoes, and flash floods each year. From an adjuster and legal standpoint, knowing when hail or wind damage occurred is fundamentally important. Proving what date or dates hail or wind damage from a thunderstorm or tornado occurred is crucial to determining coverage, or even whether a different carrier owes coverage. We will use large loss case studies from Texas to explore how adjusters and engineers use automated reports, or other times weather expert reports, to assist in structural evaluations to determine damage and loss.

Panelists include:

Howard Altschule, Forensic Weather Consultants
Annette Tarquinio, Engle Martin & Associates
Brandt Johnson, Zelle LLP
Larry Bache, Merlin Law Group
Brian Haden CCM, Haden Claims

This presentation will discuss the claims process from inception through trial, and it will analyze countless ways that the claim can go wrong throughout that process. We will discuss errors that we have seen at each phase of the process, and how simple corrections could have prevented years of contention and litigation. Overall, we will stress how focusing on building trust with the other side, rather than focusing on winning, best serves everyone involved.

Jon Pruitt, Addison Riley LLC
