Steven Badger to Present at Texas Surplus Lines Association Mid-Year Meeting
July 19, 2017Steven Badger, a partner in the Dallas office of Zelle, will present a program titled "Insurance and Public Policy Issues Arising From the 911 Terrorist Attack" at the mid-year meeting of the Texas Surplus Lines Association (TSLA). The meeting will take place at the Four Seasons Resort in Vail, Colorado on July 16-19, 2017.
For seven years, Badger served on the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee leading the $5 billion subrogation action against airlines and aviation security companies alleged to have been responsible for the 9/11 Terrorist Attack. This historic litigation concluded in a $1.2 billion settlement for the participating property insurers, reportedly the largest subrogation recovery ever obtained by the insurance industry. Badger's presentation will provide an inside look at the events leading up to 9/11. He will also discuss the numerous interesting insurance and public policy issues that arose during the course of the aviation litigation, as well as the currently pending subrogation action against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
