Zelle Attorneys to Present at 2016 PLRB Claims Conference
April 20, 2016Zelle LLP partners Thomas Caswell, Lindsey Davis, Seth Jackson and Dan Millea will present at the 2016 PLRB Claims Conference, which will take place April 17-20, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas.
Caswell, a partner in the firm’s Minneapolis office, will co-present on the topic “Cyber Risks: Trends & Exposures.” During the session, Caswell and co-presenter David Llorens of RSM will:
- Identify the trends in hacking activity;
- Describe the evolving cyber exposures faced by different industries; and
- Explore the advances in ethical hacking, penetration testing, and other methods of protection
Davis, a partner in the firm’s Minneapolis office, will present on the topic “Keys to Effective Claims Negotiations,” during which she will:
- Examine the negotiation process from the insurer's perspective and the insured's perspective;
- Evaluate core negotiating strategies and how to identify when a particular strategy will help accomplish your negotiation goals;
- Identify common negotiation mistakes and understand how to avoid them; and
- Explore keys to an effective negotiation and apply those keys in real-world claim scenarios
Jackson, a partner in Zelle’s Boston office, and Millea, a partner in the firm’s Minneapolis office, will co-present on “Mediation: Removing the Mystique” with Tony Clark, principal with Clark Insurance Arbitration, and Laura Hughes, VP-SP&C Property and APD Claims with OneBeacon Insurance Group. For this session, the presenters will:
- Differentiate mediation, appraisal, and arbitration;
- Identify the factors in a dispute that would make it proper for mediation; and
- Analyze the mechanics of setting up, preparing, participating, and properly concluding a mediation
