José Umbert and Jason Reeves to Present LMA Academy Master Class on Doing Business in Latin America
April 29, 2015On April 29, 2015, José Umbert and Jason Reeves, of Zelle Hofmann’s London office, will co-present an LMA Academy master class titled “Latin America Business Series – Introduction: The Common Themes.”
This session is the first in a series of four master classes that will provide insight into doing business in Latin America and civil law jurisdictions.
In this introductory master class, Reeves and Umbert will discuss why Latin America is particularly relevant and how it is producing business opportunities for the Lloyd's market. They will also review the cultural differences that underwriters may face and key factors to be aware of when doing business in Latin America. Common Law vs. Civil Law will also be reviewed with an examination and comparison of the (Anglo Saxon) 'Common Law' vs. (Codified) 'Civil Law' position, as well as wordings solutions.
The goal of the LMA Academy is to raise the profile of education in the Lloyd's market. This is delivered through a series of modular programs, workshops, master classes and alumni events that support learning and career development.
